How do I make an appointment?

You can either contact us by phone, email or through our facebook page to make an appointment. Appointments must be made to ensure we can devote our time to you and your little one(s). We also hold regular pop up stalls throughout the year and take castings on the day so check out our facebook or instagram for details on where we will be. No appointment necessary for our pop up stalls.

Where are you located?

You can come to our home based studio in Karama. There's plenty of parking on the street and a pram is no problem at all.

Alternatively, we hold regular pop up stalls throughout the year at various locations and take castings on the day. Check out our facebook and instagram for details on where we will be.

What is the best age to have my child’s castings taken?
We can take castings at any age. We do from premmie babies right up to adults. However, if you were to ask us what the ideal age is and that would be between newborn and 4 weeks.  Capturing their hands and feet at this age reminds you how little they used to be plus they are super cute!
The best 3D casting is taken when the child/baby is most relaxed and content. This is generally when a baby is feeding, just been fed or when sleeping.
What if I have more than one child that I would like to get done?
We can accomodate more than one child in a frame. We custom make all of our frames in house so we can design your own unique frame.

Can you replicate a frame made by another business?

Yes we can. As we custom make each frame, we will do our best to match the colour, frame and size for you. Unfortunately, we cannot replicate a frame exactly due to manufacturing. The frame colour/finish, mat colour or cast colour/finish can sometimes vary from batch to batch.

Can I design my own frame layout?

Yes you can. We specialise in custom making frames so you can design your own unique frame.

How do you take the castings?

The process itself is very gentle. Your child is required to suberge their hand/foot into the mould. It takes less than a minute to set and then we gently ease the hand or foot slowly out of the mould.

What should we wear?

The person who is having the impressions taken should wear clothes that can be easily removed. It is possible for the moulding agent to get on your clothes but it can easily be removed by scraping it off.

How long does the casting appointment take?

Each cast only takes a few minutes, however we like to allow approximately 60 minutes for a casting session to enable your baby or child to relax and for us to see what the best moulding process will be for your child. This also allows enough time to choose frames, mat board colours, plaque details and the overall design/layout. If there are multiple casts to collect then the casting session may take longer and we will let you know how long the session will be, at time of booking.

What products do you use for taking the impressions?

We use a unique formula and the product is 100% non-toxic to skin. It produces accurate and detailed impressions.

Can we have multiple casts from the one mould?

Once we cast the hand or foot and pour the high quality sculpting stone mix into the moulds, it only allows us to produce one single cast from each mould so keeping and reusing the moulds is not possible. This means that each cast will be completely unique. If you want multiple casts, please tell us at the appointment and we can make additional moulds.

What options do I have for my cast?

We offer framing of baby hands and feet in shadow boxes. This may include a photo of your baby. There are many options for mounting and displaying these precious pieces with over 100 mat board colours and 50 frames to choose from. You also have a choice of either silver or gold for your casts. Please contact us for more information.

Who supplies the photo?

The photo can be either professionally taken or one you have taken yourself. If you need recommendations for a photographer, we are more than happy to assist and refer you to one of our professional photographers. We print the photo for you so a high resolution photo will need to be emailed to us prior to completion date to avoid any delays. The printing of photo is complimentary with all our casting frame packages. In other instances, a charge of $20 will apply.

What if I don’t have my photo’s on the day of the appointment?

Just email us a high resolution photo when you can.

Where are the frames made and what frame, mat colours, casts colours can I choose?

All of our quality range of frames are made locally in Darwin. Each frame is made using quality hardwood and are MDF backed. We have over 50 frames in our collection, with standard, premium and platinum frames to choose from. The standard frames are included in our packages with an additional charge on our premium and platinum range. We have over 100 mat board colours to choose from and 2 casting colours of silver or gold finish.

When will I receive my finished product?

We advise you to book ahead of time especially when purchasing for birthdays or Christmas to avoid disappointment. Our turn around time is approximately 6 months subject to public holidays and when we have received all that is required to complete the order. Delay in choosing matboard colours, frames, supplying a photo, hospital band, clamp, cot card, etc will delay the completion date, as all orders are processed in date order. All of this information will be provided to you at the appointment so you are well aware of when to expect your order to be finalised. We strive to meet customer's expectations and complete orders within the valid time frame.

Will I be updated on the progress of my order?

Yes, we strive in providing you with excellent customer service and also make sure you are kept up to date with the progress of your order. You receive a summary after your appointment so you can check that we have noted your order correctly, we keep you updated to let you know we are on track, send reminder messages if items are still outstanding and last but not least, you receive a sneaky preview of your order - How exciting!

How do I take care of my castings?

Please hang your frames on a metal hook and not on plastic removable types. We take no responsibility for damaged frames due to incorrect mounting and want to ensure your treasured memories last a lifetime. Repair costs will be incurred by the client. Casts should be kept in a dry airy room like general living areas. It is not advisable to keep casts in moist rooms like bathrooms or too close to windows or heating appliances. Cleaning of casts should just be dry dusting, and no polishes or cleaning products should be used.

Do you do gift vouchers?

Alternatively, you are welcome to call or message us to make a time to collect a physical gift voucher at the studio. If you lose your voucher, don't worry as we have a gift voucher registry to record your details.

When is payment required?

50% deposit is required at time of booking the appointment and the balance is payable on completion.

How do I make payment?

Payments can be made by cash, EFT or credit card. We accept all major credit cards, however they do incur a 1.9% processing fee. We now also have AFTERPAY. Ask us how you can make 4 easy instalments interest free.

What happens if it doesn't turn out right?

Most casts have some minor flaws to them when they first turn out such as air bubbles, which can generally be corrected. If there has been damage to a mould, a second casting session may be required and this will be done at no extra cost to you.
